Some universities offer scholarships specifically to physical therapy students. Two examples of universities that offer such scholarships are the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of North Carolina. In Wisconsin, they offer three different scholarships. The Caroline, Clara, Charles and Mildred Harper Scholarship is awarded to two first year female students and is a prize of $1,200 each. Next is the Barbara Ellen Gerlich-Hoefeyzer Scholarship and it is an $800 award to a first and second year student. The last is the Margaret Kohli Scholarship and it is a $2,000 reward to a final year student.
North Carolina offers two scholarships. The first is the Charlotte Money Beatty Memorial Scholarship Fund and is offered to students of physical therapy with a varying amount every year and the second is the Rebecca Irene Sande Scholarship Fund which is a $3,000 prize to a first year student.
Associations are another great source to look for scholarships. In the field of physical therapy two of the biggest are The American Physical Therapy Association and The Texas Physical Therapy Association. The American Physical Therapy Association offers numerous awards each year. The prize can vary between $5,000, $7,500 and $15,000. As for the Texas Association they offer several each year also ranging from $2,000 to $7,000. In addition to these, several other states also have Physical Therapy Associations.
Finally, foundations can be a good source for scholarship funding as well. One such foundation is The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions. They offer two scholarships programs each year to students enrolled in a health related degree program with varying prize levels. Also, the Tylenol Scholarship Fund offers $250,000 in scholarship prizes each year to students in health degree programs.
