Scholarships & Fellowships for Graduate Students

There are hundreds of scholarships and fellowship programs available to graduate students throughout the country. High-achieving students who need financial assistance to continue their education can compete for many national, regional and institutional awards. Scholarships and fellowships also are available to students who are pursuing research efforts and need financial support.
  1. National Science Foundation Graduate Scholarships

    • National Science Foundation offers a number of scholarships and fellowships for graduate students who are studying a science-based discipline. From the NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships to the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring, the National Science Foundation serves as a gateway to a variety of funding opportunities for graduate students. It is important to review the guidelines and eligibility requirements of each program. While they generally all are available through the National Science Foundation, each has its own set of criteria and application instructions. Be advised that the majority will ask for a detailed research proposal that lays out budget expectations, the focus of the study and other details. Award amounts vary depending on the specific award.
