Graduate Scholarships for Accounting

In 2006, the cost of 1 year's tuition for master's degree programs was $14,825, while Ph.D. programs averaged $20,903 per year, according to the Daily Princetonian. For accountants hoping to attend graduate school, affording the cost of their advanced degree may make them reluctant to apply. Fortunately, there are scholarships available to help students pay for graduate school in accounting.
  1. AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship

    • Each year the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) grants five scholarships. The awards are for $2,500 and are given to both undergraduates and master's-level students in accounting, finance or information systems. Graduate students must be enrolled for at least nine credits of study per semester and must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher during previous college studies. Applicants must also not be Certified Public Accountants. AICPA student membership is also required for consideration and involves paying an annual fee. Applications are available online and are typically due in April each year. Awards are given out in August and paid directly to the winners' respective universities.
