The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is one of the largest sources of scholarship money for American students of Hispanic and Latino origin, offering many different awards annually. HSF General College Scholarships are open to Latino students at all levels, from graduating high-school seniors to graduate students. The amount of General Scholarship awards typically range from $1,000 to $5,000. In order to be eligible, a student must be of Hispanic or Latino origin, must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States and must fill out and submit a FAFSA. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities offers several scholarships that are available to Latino graduate students. The NASCAR/Wendell Scott Award awards $12,100 to a Latino student in engineering, business or a related area of study, who is carrying a GPA of at least 3.0 and attending an HACU-member college in Georgia, Florida or North Carolina. The United Health Foundation Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Scholarship is available to Latino graduate students attending an HACU-member college in pursuit of a health-related degree, and is awarded in the $2,000. Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States in order to be eligible for HACU scholarships. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute provides scholarship money to both undergraduate and graduate students who are of Latino origin and who express a commitment to future civic engagement. Awards for graduate students are made in the amount of $5,000. Students must be enrolled in school full time, must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States and must demonstrate both strong writing skills and financial need to be eligible for CHCI scholarships.
