Since 2000 the UNESCO-L'Oreal fellowship program has annually awarded grant fellowships to 15 women researchers around the world. Candidates must be active in the life sciences and involved in research projects at the doctoral or post-doctoral level. Projects cannot involve experimentation using vertebrate laboratory animals, and preference goes to non-cosmetic researchers.

Washington State University in Pullman offers several pharmaceutical scholarships to women. The Julia D. Flory Memorial Scholarship, established in 1987, goes to women enrolled in Washington State's College of Pharmacy. Flora, a 1930 WSU pharmacy graduate, worked as a licensed pharmacist until 1950. Other scholarships include the Janice Sourwine Kenney Memorial Scholarship for Women Pharmacy Students and the Trudy Reavis Memorial Women's Scholarship.

Beauty pageants award millions of dollars in scholarships to young women every year, according to collegescholarships.org. The Miss America Organization leads the pageant scholarship path, providing more than $45 million in scholarship assistance annually to contestants from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. All participants have a good chance of winning at least partial scholarships.
