Scholarships for Women in Pharmacy Schools

Careers in the discipline of pharmacy are both diversified and in demand. Options are available in academic pharmacy (education settings), ambulatory care pharmacy (community or consultant), federal pharmacy (armed services or public health), hospital and institutional care pharmacy, informatics, managed care and pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacy was the No. 1 women's occupation for weekly earnings in 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Many college scholarships are available for women who want to pursue a pharmacy career.
  1. New York Life Foundation Scholarships

    • The New York Life Foundation for Women in the Health Professions provides annual scholarships for women 25 years or older who have been accepted into a program in health professions. Awards are between $500 and $1,000, and about 50 are granted each year. The student must demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. citizen, and graduate within 24 months of being granted the award. The applicant cannot be part of any graduate program and must have a definite career plan in place.

    University of Toledo Pharmacy Scholarships

    • The University of Toledo in Ohio features dozens of scholarships for pharmacy students on their College of Pharmacy website. The Brown-Mumma Pharmacy Scholarship for Women is designated for female students within the fifth year of their pharmacy education in the department. Other qualifications are that the applicant be involved with campus activities and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.

    Campbell University Pharmacy Scholarships

    • Campbell University, located in Buies Creek, North Carolina, offers students in its School of Pharmacy numerous scholarships. They are awarded based on academic achievement, financial need, academic year or city of residence. The GSK Women in Science Pharmacy Scholarship is awarded to female undergraduate students within the department who are enrolled full time.

    St. John's University Scholarships

    • St. John's University, located in Queens, New York, offers a scholarship program for women in pharmacy, allied health, biology, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, environmental studies, physics and physical science. To be considered for a scholarship, a student must be accepted or enrolled in one of the above programs at the school, maintain a GPA of a 3.0 or above and have completed at least 24 credits per academic year at the time of application.
