Scholarships for Graduate Students Pursuing Nursing

Students who choose to pursue advanced degrees in nursing often deal with a significant financial burden in the form of tuition expenses. Fortunately, there are a number of scholarship programs that can allow professional nurses and nursing students to complete their graduate degrees.
  1. Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarships

    • The Army Nurse Corps Association sponsors a $3,000 scholarship award for nursing students entering a graduate study program at the master's or doctoral level. The program is open to dependents of U.S. Army members as well as current and former Army service members. Eligible students must be enrolled in an accredited nursing graduate program and they must not have previously received education funding from the U.S. Army. No service commitment is required for recipients.

    Nurses Educational Funds Scholarships

    • Nurses Educational Funds sponsors scholarship awards for registered nurses who are pursuing a degree in nursing at the master's and doctoral level. Applicants must be enrolled full- or part-time in an accredited nursing program and be a current member of a professional nursing organization. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and potential contribution to the nursing field. The number and amount of awards granted annually varies based on funding.

    AfterCollege/AACN Scholarship

    • AfterCollege.com and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing offer a scholarship program to nursing students enrolled in accredited master's and doctoral degree programs. Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA to apply and be attending a school that is an AACN member institution. Selection priority for the $2,500 awards is given to those students who plan to pursue a career as nurse faculty and master's degree students enrolled in accelerated programs.

    Patricia Smith Christensen Scholarship

    • The Patricia Smith Christensen Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship award available to U.S. and Canadian students who are pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in nursing. Applicants must be licensed registered nurses, be in good academic standing and have an interest in maternal-child or pediatric nursing. Priority is given to those students who have defined interest or background in clinical research.

    Global Scholarship Alliance Nurse Scholars Program

    • Global Scholarship Alliance sponsors a scholarship program for nursing students in the U.S. and abroad who wish to complete advanced nursing degrees. The program allows students to pursue study domestically or internationally at a GSA-approved institution and provides full funding for tuition, books, fees, supplies and travel expenses. In return, recipients must agree to a service commitment at a GSA-designated partner hospital for a period of at least one year after graduation.
