The U.S. government's Health Resources and Services Administration Nursing Scholarship Program targets full-time undergraduate nursing students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The Nursing Scholarship Program was established to help alleviate the shortage of registered nurses in the United States. In exchange for the scholarship, graduates must work as registered nurses for a minimum of two years at certain types of health care facilities.
The U.S. Government's Nursing Scholarship offers full tuition, all required course fees, extra costs such as textbooks, clinical supplies and laboratory expenses and a monthly stipend.
Applications are accepted in April each year. Eligible applicants must be US citizens and enrolled in a professional registered nurse program. 500 applicants are accepted to the program each year.
