The Kansas Board of Regents offers the Kansas Comprehensive Grant program to state residents who are enrolled full-time at a public or private college or university in-state. To apply, you must be able to demonstrate financial need and have completed the the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students enrolled at private institutions may receive grants from $200 to $3,500 while students at public institutions are eligible for awards ranging from $100 to $1,500.

The Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship provides up to $3,500 per year in education funding for residents who are pursuing nursing degrees at accredited Kansas colleges and universities. To apply, you must be sponsored by a licensed Kansas healthcare facility and your sponsor must agree to match a certain percentage of scholarship funding. You must also agree to a service commitment at your sponsor facility for a minimum of one year after completing your degree.

The Kansas Vocational Educational Scholarship is designed for those students who are enrolled in approved technical and vocational degree programs at accredited colleges in-state. To be eligible, you must successfully complete a vocational entrance exam and students who receive the highest scores will be award $500 in scholarship funding.

The Kansas American Legion sponsors a dozen scholarship programs for Kansas residents who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited degree program in-state. Scholarships range from $250 to $1,500 and you must meet specific eligibility criteria for each award. All applicants must be affiliated with a local chapter of the Kansas American Legion, either as the relative of a current or deceased member or through various Legion activities, such as youth baseball leagues.

The United Negro College Fund sponsors the Kansas City Initiative Scholarship for minority graduating high school seniors who are residents of the bi-state Kansas City area. To apply, you must be planning to enroll in a United Negro College Fund-participating school and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards are based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and financial need and individual awards range in value from $2,500 to $5,000.
