The Span Plan Adult Student Services program of Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, offers several scholarships for nontraditional students. The Helen B. Schleman Scholarship is for adults who maintain a 2.2 grade point average while taking at least six credit hours per semester. The $1,000 scholarship is renewable each year. Adult students who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above can apply for the Peggy Sullivan Achievement Award, a $1,000 scholarship. The Nontraditional Student Scholarship, a $1,000 award, is open to degree and non-degree seeking students. Full- and part-time students can apply for the Span Plan grant, a $1,000 award that must be applied toward tuition and fees.

The women's specialty clothing retailer Talbots sponsors up to 11 scholarships each year for women who are returning to school. The company awards up to 10 $15,000 scholarships to women who attend a four-year college or university. Talbots inaugurated a $30,000 scholarship in 2010 for one outstanding applicant. Award decisions are based on financial need and personal achievements. The selection committee is comprised of leading business women. Applicants must live in the United States or Canada and have a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development). The awards are one-time only and cannot be renewed.

The University of Wisconsin, a large public research institution in Madison, supports its non-traditional students with three scholarships. Women over the age of 45 can apply for the Alma Baron Second Chance for Women scholarship. Selection criteria include financial need and potential for academic success. Applicants must be United State citizens.
The Osher Reentry Scholarship is for students who have been out of school for at least five years at the undergraduate level. Full- and part-time students are eligible and may receive up to $5,000. Selection is based on financial need and academic promise.
