The Mensa Education and Research Foundation offers adult students a number of scholarship possibilities. You need not be a Mensa member to apply, though Mensa members also have a number of scholarship opportunities. Mensa offers scholarships through its United States national and regional offices to selected applicants based solely on an application essay. Financial need, transcripts and references are not required. However, Mensa will only issue funds to an accredited college or university. The foundation issues about $70,000 total in scholarship awards each year. Mensa also has a different scholarship program for those living in foreign countries.

Adult students, especially displaced workers and single parents, can apply for education scholarships. National scholarships are usually $2,500 each; regional awards vary according to the EWI chapter. Students must first apply through a participating chapter. At that point, the local chapter representatives may elect to send the application for consideration for national funds.
