Scholarships for Engineering Students

Students who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the engineering field have a number of options when it comes to scholarship funding. These programs recognize the growing need for gifted and well-educated engineers, and there are scholarships available for future engineers of all kinds.   1. NSPE Engineering Scholarships

    • The National Society of Professional Engineers offers eight different scholarship programs for high school and undergraduate students and three research fellowships for graduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering. Scholarship and fellowship awards range from $2,000 to $5,000. The eligibility criteria for these awards varies; in addition to academic criteria, gender, minority status and state residence may be considered for specific awards.

    Future Engineers Scholarship Program

    • The Future Engineers Scholarship Program is open to college sophomores and juniors who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be accepted into the engineering program at their college or university. Students must submit an essay outlining their educational and career goals; the $5,000 scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement and the student essay.

    SAE International Scholarships Program

    • SAE International offers numerous scholarship programs for high school seniors, undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. students. Scholarship awards range from $400 to full tuition, and the eligibility criteria for each program varies. All students who apply must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Awards are granted primarily on academic merit and commitment to a career in engineering.

    Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Awards

    • The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships of $10,000 to undergraduate and graduate students who plan to pursue a career in engineering or a related field. Applicants must be in their sophomore year or higher and be attending an institution approved by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. Students must be nominated to be considered, and recipients are selected based on academic achievement, research experience and initiative in their area of study.

    Society of Women Engineers Scholarships

    • The Society of Women Engineers offers scholarships to women undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000, and applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be considered for the awards.
