The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) offers several scholarship programs for undergraduate students enrolled in accredited mechanical engineering programs. The Kenneth Andrew Roe Scholarship is a $10,000 award available to outstanding mechanical engineering students in their junior or senior year. The Willis F. Thompson Memorial Scholarship offers $5,000 in education funding to qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors. The ASME Power Division Scholarship is a $2,700 award designated for sophomores, juniors and seniors with an interest in the power industry. Students must meet individual eligiblity criteria for each award and all applicants must be student members of ASME to be considered.

The Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society Undergraduate Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $5,000 to junior and senior undergraduates who are completing degrees in mechanical engineering and related fields. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited degree program and express a career interest in working in the rubber industry after graduation. Applicants must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be nominated by two members of their school's faculty to be considered for the scholarship.

The NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program provides education funding to graduate students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited mechanical engineering degree program. Applicants must be in their final year of an undergraduate program and be accepted into a master's or doctoral degree program or be in their first year of graduate study. The scholarship provides selected students with $11,000 per year for tuition funding, a $35,000 annual living stipend and the opportunity to participate in two paid summer internships with NASA worth $10,000 each.

The Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) Next Generation Scholarship is a $5,000 award that is available to students who are planning to pursue degrees in a field of study related to electric power generation, including mechanical engineering. Graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply for the scholarship and awards are granted on the basis of academic performance and an essay related to some aspect of mechanical power generation. All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online through the JETS website.
