The Global Scholarship Alliance provides work-study scholarship programs for students from developing countries to study nursing within United States health-care institutions and universities. There are three program options. Home country programs require completion of an advanced nursing degree and full-time work at a health-care institution or university for students in developing countries (the Philippines, for example). The culture exchange programs are for nurse educators, who must return to their country of origin to teach upon completing the program. The international work/study program was created specifically to increase the supply of nurses in developing countries. Scholarships are fully funded, including tuition and fees, books, a laptop computer and relocation fees. These programs give students the opportunity to receive education in some of the best schools in the country and gain hands-on experience at leading health care facilities at no cost.
