Scholarships for Nursing Students in Illinois

Finding scholarships to help pay for college can be difficult, but for nursing students there are a number of programs designed to increase the number of professionals entering the field. For nursing students in Illinois, scholarships are available for nursing students pursuing ADN, LPN, RN, and advanced nursing degrees.
  1. Heritage Enterprises Nursing Scholarship

    • Heritage Enterprises offers nursing scholarships to current employees completing their nursing degree. Applicants must be continuously employed by a Heritage Enterprises nursing care facility for a period of at least six months and have an outstanding work record. Up to twenty students will receive full tuition scholarships to be applied toward the accredited nursing program of their choice. In addition, students will also be paid their regular hourly rate during their scheduled class times. In return, recipients must agree to work for Heritage Enterprises for a period of two years after graduation.

    Center for Rural Health Nursing Education Scholarship Program

    • The Center for Rural Health Nursing Education Scholarship Program provides up to five years of scholarship funding for Illinois nursing students who are pursuing degrees at the associates, bachelors, and graduate levels. The program provides students at public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities with scholarships ranging from $1,603 to three-quarter tuition and an annual living stipend of $5,943. In return, recipients must agree to serve as a professional nurse or nurse educator in Illinois. The service period is determined by the individual award amount received.

    Illinois AMVETS Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship

    • The Illinois AMVETS Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and college students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited Illinois nursing program. Applicants must demonstrate academic merit, strength of character, participation in extracurricular activities, and financial need. Selection priority is given to a student who is the dependent of a deceased or disabled Veteran. Individual award amounts vary based on need and program funding.

    Southern Illinois Healthcare Nursing Scholarships

    • Southern Illinois Healthcare offers scholarships for nursing students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an associates degree nursing program or for SIH employees who plan to complete a BSN. The program provides scholarship funding for tuition, books, fees, and supplies for accredited nursing degree program, and individual awards are based in part on financial need. Associates degree students must agree to work for Southern Illinois Healthcare for a period of time as specified by the amount of the award received.

    Illinois Farm Bureau Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

    • The Illinois Farm Bureau's Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship provides scholarships of $4,000 to registered nurses who plan to complete pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited Illinois nursing degree program and agree to work for a period of two years in a rural community after graduation.
