Scholarships for Accelerated Nursing Students

Accelerated nursing programs have been developed at schools and colleges around the nation as a way for professionals who have earned a non-nursing bachelor's degree to change careers and go back to school for nursing. Because a college education is expensive, especially after incurring costs of earning one degree, a couple of universities and a nursing career search website have scholarship programs specially designed for accelerated nursing students.
  1. Minnesota State University Accelerated Nursing Program Nursing Faculty Scholarship

    • At Minnesota State University, the alumni, faculty and administration of the School of Nursing have all contributed funds to a scholarship that will be awarded to an accelerated nursing student. To be eligible for the award, the student must be enrolled full time in an Accelerated Nursing Program in the School of Nursing, have a 3.3 grade point average, and be in need of financial assistance.

Interested parties can apply on the School of Nursing scholarship site: http://ahn.mnsu.edu/nursing/scholarships/undergraduate/scholarshiplist.html.

William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Accelerated Nursing

    • The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Accelerated Nursing was established at the University of Missouri for accelerated nursing students in the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. The scholarship program was developed with the intent of providing tuition and fee assistance to students who have bachelor's degrees in other fields but would like to change careers to nursing. Nursing students do not have to apply for this scholarship program individually but should apply for scholarships in their major and by having a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.

AfterCollege / American Association of Colleges of Nursing Scholarship

    • Although the AfterCollege / American Association of Colleges of Nursing Scholarship was developed for all nursing students, special consideration for the award will be given to students enrolled in an accelerated bachelor's or master's nursing degree with a 3.25 grade per average or better. The award amount for this scholarship is $2,500, and two winners will be announced after each application deadline. The remaining application deadlines for 2010 are April 30, July 31 and Oct. 31.
