The following grants are awarded based on information on the students' Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form:
--The Charles Gallagher Student Assistance Program. $1,500 is awarded to Missouri residents attending a Missouri state college or university full time.
--Missouri College Guarantee Scholarship. This scholarship is based on financial need as well as academic standing. If you graduated high school with at least a 2.5 GPA and scored above 20 on your SAT and meet the financial needs, you can receive up to $6,200 toward tuition.
--Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship. Part-time students at any two- or four-year college or university are eligible for the scholarship. This awards the student from $900 to $1,700 for tuition. This one can only be applied for after student has been enrolled in a college or university.
Prospective students can apply for the following scholarships and grants based on their academic achievements in high school:
--The highly competitive Chancellor's Scholarship, which can be applied for if the student graduated high school in the top 10 percent of the class. This scholarship awards up to $12,000 and has the chance to be renewable each year if the student maintains a GPA of at least 3.25 while attending college.
--The Missouri High Education Academic "Bright Flight" Scholarship, which is awarded to Missouri residents who scored in the top 3 percent in either the ACT or SAT. It's worth $2,000 toward tuition.
Grants and scholarships are available for minority students, including students of African, Hispanic, American Indian or Asian descent.
Those who graduated in the top 25 percent of their class or scored high on standardized test can qualify for the Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship Program, which awards up to $3,000.
