Seminary Scholarships for Minority Students

College is expensive, and most students can use any financial aid they can get. Like any other higher education track, seminary programs can be very costly, reaching well into the thousands for a full program. For minority students looking to join the seminary, there are a number of options from which to choose. Be sure to check the details of each scholarship before applying to make sure that you meet the scholarships specific requirements.
  1. New Life Church of Chicago Scholarship

    • This seminary scholarship program is for any ethnic minority that can demonstrate a financial need. However, the scholarship is mainly intended for Korean-American students with financial needs. In addition, applicants must be enrolled in seminary. The exception to this rule is if the applicant is a child of a a pastor or missionary enrolled in the College at Southwestern. Other requirements include a 3.0 GPA and completion of either eight hours of graduate-level courses or 15 hours of undergraduate-level courses.

    Justin Haruyama Ministerial Scholarship Fund

    • This scholarship awards Japanese-American students who are at least one-quarter Japanese with financial assistance toward a religious education in the seminary. Specifically, the student must be enrolled at a Protestant seminary within the U.S. and plan on serving at a Japanese-American church upon completion.

    Presbyterian Church Native American Seminary Scholarship

    • This scholarship, which varies in number and amount, awards Native American college seniors looking to join the seminary. Applicants must be Native American, U.S. citizens and Presbyterians.

    Dallas Theological Seminary Minority Scholarship

    • Minority students at the Dallas Theological Seminary can apply for a need-based minority scholarship, which are given out once every semester. The requirements to be eligible for the scholarship the student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, maintain a 2.5 GPA, be employed and be current on seminary payments.
