For Latina women in college and in the business field, the HSF/Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Business, Business Leadership Award is a scholarship of $10,000 over two years.

Founded by Dr. David B. Garcia in 2004, this highly regarded Central Texas foundation gives worthy high school students grants every year. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $5,000. To be eligible, Hispanic students must plan to enroll in a college, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and live designated Texas counties. Several other important nonprofit groups across the country have opportunities for Latinas. New York's 100 Hispanic Women recently opened an institute for young Latinas. Since 1977, the Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship Program of California offers 30 Latina college students grants at $1,500 each year.

Ford Foundation's Pre-Doctoral Fellowship for Minorities offers grant opportunities for Hispanic women in the field of math and science. Latinas who are interested in earning degrees in fields in which they will be largely underrepresented should apply. Criteria includes a high academic achievement and teacher recommendations.
