HORIZONS Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts that range between $1,000 and $7,000. To be eligible, a student must be female, must be able to demonstrate financial need, must be a U.S. citizen, must have a grade-point average of at least 3.25, and must be pursuing a career related to national defense or national security. Applicants must be able to demonstrate how the degree they are seeking will be relevant to a career in national security. The annual deadline for application is July 1. Armstrong Foundation Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts and may be used only to defray the cost of tuition. An eligible student must have a physical disability, must be female, must be pursuing a graduate degree, and must be member of the American Association of People with Disabilities. In addition to a completed scholarship application, an applicant must also submit a 1,000-word essay explaining how she will change "the face of disability on the planet."
