Educational Grants for Immigrants

Many educational grants are available for immigrants studying in the United States. Applicants will discover grants offered by schools, charities, corporations, non-profit organizations and the local, state and federal governments. The grants are of three main types: awards for specific majors or areas of study, need-based grants for the financially needy and merit-based scholarships for students who excel academically.
  1. Castle Rock Foundation Scholarship

    • The Castle Rock Foundation Scholarship, awarded to a minority student, is given by the United Negro College Fund in partnership with the Castle Rock Foundation. Applicants must be of African heritage, must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, must be majoring in engineering or business and must attend an approved American college or university. The award amount is generally $3,600 per academic year.

    Ahmanson Foundation Scholarship

    • The Ahmanson Foundation Scholarship is given to a deserving student by the United Negro College Fund and the Ahmanson Foundation. To qualify, students must represent a minority culture, must attend an accredited college or university in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The award amount is generally between $1,000 and $4,000.

    Fulbright Scholarship

    • The Fulbright Scholarship is available to an outstanding foreign student pursuing a degree in the United States. The Fulbright Scholar Program aims to promote positive relations with the United States and less-developed nations around the world. Qualified applicants must exhibit academic prowess, have thoughtful educational and career goals and be leaders in their communities. The award generally covers full tuition and fees.

    APIASF Scholarship

    • The APIASF Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student of Asian descent by the Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund. Applicants must be in their first year at an accredited American college or university, must be of Asian or Pacific Islander heritage and must have a GPA of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale. The award amount is generally between $1,000 and $4,000 per academic year.
