Individual Grants for Educational Expenses in Massachusetts

A variety of educational grants and scholarships are available to assist college students in the state of Massachusetts. These are available from a variety of sources, including professional organizations and private endowments. Many individual grants for educational expenses in Massachusetts are limited to students from a particular geographical area, students pursuing a degree in a specific discipline and even students with specific work experience.
  1. The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts

    • The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts offers an array of different scholarships to residents of western Massachusetts. The Donald A. and Dorothy F. Axtell Grant Scholarship is available to Protestant students who are residents of Hampshire County. The Louis W. and Mary S. Doherty Scholarship is available to residents of Hampden County, while the William A. and Vinnie E. Dexter Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors throughout western Massachusetts. The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts also administers many scholarships to graduates of specific high schools. Many awards are open to both graduate and undergraduate students.     MALSCE Scholarships

    • The Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers offers annual scholarships to Massachusetts residents who are pursuing a career in either surveying, civil engineering or environmental engineering. Award amounts vary. Students attending out-of-state institutions are still eligible to receive a MALSCE Scholarship. A student must be enrolled on a full-time basis in order to be eligible.     The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund

    • The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund offers scholarship support to the students of Massachusetts. To be eligible, a student must have worked at a golf course in Massachusetts for a minimum of two years as either a caddy, a course superintendent or a helper in the pro shop. Those who have worked at a golf course in other capacities are not eligible for this scholarship. Only undergraduate students are eligible. The Francis Ouimet Scholarship is renewable for up to four years, and provides funds of between $1,500 and $7,500 per student per year. The annual deadline for application is Dec. 1.
