Ohio Grants for College

The state of Ohio has several scholarships available for college students. Ohio grants funding for both undergraduate and graduate students seeking out degrees in a variety of different disciplines. There are grants for both general and specific fields of study from nonprofit organizations, corporations, charitable organizations and private donors.
  1. Ohio Academic Scholarship

    • The Ohio Board of Regents offers the Ohio Academic Scholarship to graduating high school seniors who intend on continuing their education in an Ohio college or university. Students must demonstrate academic excellence and have a GPA of at least 3.0 to qualify. Several hundred students receive the award of $2,205 per academic year.

    Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

    • The Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) is also offered to Ohio students by the Ohio Board of Regents. To qualify, students must show they are financially needy. The scholarship is meant to help those who show promise but lack adequate finances to pay for an associate, bachelor's or nursing degree. Students families' must have a net income of less than $75,000 and a maximum expected family contribution of $2,190. Depending on the school you're attending, the award amount for full-time students is between $240 and $2,256.

    Gateway Excellence Scholarship

    • The Gateway Excellence Scholarship is offered to incoming freshman by Ohio University. The scholarship is merit based and the amount you receive is based on your level of academic achievement. To qualify, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 32 or a minimum combined SAT score of 1400. The award amount starts at $500 up to full in-state tuition.

    Maximus Scholarship

    • The Maximus Scholarship is offered to students at Ohio State University. The scholarship is merit-based. To qualify, you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, an ACT score of 32 or higher and an SAT score of 1420 or higher. The award amount is $2,700 per academic year.

    CSU Alumni Leadership Scholarship

    • The CSU Alumni Leadership Scholarship is offered to a continuing sophomore, junior or senior student at Cleveland State University. Students must demonstrate scholastic ability, must be a junior or senior and must have a GPA of at least 3.0. The award amount is between $500 and $1,000.
