College Grants for State Employees

Like in many professions, state government employees have scholarships and grants that organizations tailor to them. Unions, such as the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), their affiliates and other independent agencies, offer assistance to help state employees and their families pay for college or trade school.
  1. Union Plus

    • Union Plus, a government employee affiliate of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, gives out one-time scholarships worth $500 to $4,000 to its current and retired members. A panel selects recipients, based on their "academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor," according to AFSCME's website.
