Ontario Government Scholarships

The Ontario government provides a variety of scholarships to Ontario college students. Most government scholarships in Ontario are administered by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The OMTCU provides both need-based and merit-based scholarships for Ontario students, as well as assistance that helps to defray the cost of educational expenses such as textbooks.
  1. The Ontario Student Assistance Program

    • Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities provides scholarship money to students from Ontario through the Ontario Student Assistance Program. The Ontario Student Assistance Program provides a student with up to $360 a week. Married students, or students who are single parents, are eligible to receive up to $560 per week. The Ontario Student Assistance Program will also provide up to $210 per week to students from Ontario who choose to study outside of the country. To be eligible, a student must be a resident of Ontario, must be enrolled in a degree-granting or certification lasting at least 12 weeks and must not have defaulted on government student loans.     Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship

    • The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship is another government grant administered by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This scholarship provides funding of up to $3,500 per year. To be eligible, a student must be a resident of Ontario, and must be a graduate of an Ontario high school. A student must also be able to demonstrate financial need. The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship is renewable for up to four years as long as a recipient maintains an average of 80 percent or above.     The Ontario Textbook and Technology Grant

    • In addition to traditional tuition assistance scholarships, the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities also helps students to purchase books and other necessary equipment through the Ontario Textbook and Technology Grant. The Ontario Textbook and Technology Grant are made in amounts of up to $150. A student may only receive one Ontario Textbook and Technology Grant per academic year. A student must be receiving Canada-Ontario Integrated Student loans to be eligible for Textbook and Technology Grants, and must be attending school in the province of Ontario. A student can apply for an OTT Grant by filling out an application for the Ontario Student Assistance Program.
