The University of Missouri in Columbia offers a variety of scholarships to its students. The renewable George C. Brooks Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $7,500 per year to an incoming freshman student who was in the top 25 percent of her graduating class, who had high standardized test scores and who is a member of ethnic minority. The renewable Mizzou Scholars Award is awarded in the amount of $10,000 per year to incoming freshmen from Missouri who have a composite ACT score of at least 33 or a combined SAT score of at least 1440. The Dr. Donald Suggs Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $10,000 to a student who belongs to an ethnic minority, who has a composite ACT score of at least 27 or a combined SAT score of at least 1210, and enrolled at the University of Missouri immediately after graduating from high school. The Masonic Scholarship Fund of Missouri provides two scholarships for graduates of Missouri public high schools. The Ruth Lutes Bachman Scholarship is awarded to a student who is pursuing a degree in nursing or education. The Samuel Smith Stewart Masonic Scholarship is available to students majoring in any discipline. To be eligible, a student must have a grade point average of at least 3.0, must be planning to attend college full-time and must be able to demonstrate financial need. The Missouri State Library Scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a master's degree in library science at an accredited university in Missouri. This scholarship pays for all of a student's tuition and associated fees. Under this program, a student is required to complete his degree within three years, and must commit to work as a librarian in Missouri for at least one month for every course funded through the program.
