The state government provides scholarship assistance to college-bound students through the Pennsylvania House of Representatives' Scholarship Program. This scholarship provides the equivalent of one semester's tuition at a state university, about $2,500. However, it may be used to pay for tuition at either a public or private university. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
To be eligible, a student must be a graduating high school senior from Pennsylvania, must be planning to attend college in Pennsylvania, must have a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 and must be able to demonstrate financial need. To be eligible for scholarship renewal, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 during his freshman college year and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for each year thereafter. The annual deadline for application is March 1.

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency offers scholarship assistance to Pennsylvania students pursuing a career as a highly trained technology expert. The PHEAA Technology Scholarship is awarded in amounts up to $1,000 per year. To be eligible, a student must be a high school graduate, must be a resident of Pennsylvania, must be enrolled in a science or technology program and must have a grade point average of at least 3.0.
The PHEAA SciTech Scholarship is awarded in amounts up to $3,000 per year. To be eligible, a student must be a Pennsylvania resident and must be at least a sophomore. Both scholarships require that, for every year of support she receives, a student work as a technology expert in Pennsylvania for a year.

The Pennsylvania Library Association provides scholarship and educational grant assistance to Pennsylvania students of library science. The $1,500 PLA MLS Scholarship is available to a Pennsylvania resident who is pursuing a master of library science degree. Preference is given to members of the Pennsylvania Library Association. The annual deadline for application is May 15.
In addition, the Pennsylvania Library Association provides continuing education grants to association members who wish to further their education, with the stipulation that grant money cannot be used to pursue an MLS.
