Texas Grants & Scholarships

A variety of scholarships and educational grant programs are available to students who are pursuing a college degree in Texas. Sources of scholarship money include the state government of Texas as well as state professional organizations. Some scholarships for Texas students are limited to students who are pursuing a degree in a specific area of study.
  1. Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program

    • The government of Texas and the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation provide educational grant assistance to Texans through the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant Program. TEXAS Grants may be awarded in amounts up to a student's total cost for tuition and fees. Students are eligible for this program until they have completed 75 credit hours, have received an associate's degree or have been in college for four years. Applicants must be a resident of Texas, must demonstrate financial need and must never have been convicted of a felony or a drug crime. TEXAS Grants fund study at public institutions only.

    TRA Scholarships in Restaurant/Hospitality Management

    • The Texas Restaurant Association provides scholarship assistance to Texas students pursuing a career in the restaurant or hospitality industry through the TRA Scholarships in Restaurant/Hospitality Management Program. These scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,000 to students attending a two-year college or in the amount of $5,000 to students attending a four-year college. To be eligible, a student must maintain a grade average of C or better. The annual deadline for application is Feb. 1.

    Texas DOT Conditional Grant Program

    • The Texas Department of Transportation provides scholarships to Texas students majoring in computer science or related areas of study through the Texas DOT Conditional Grant Program. Applicants must be a resident of Texas and must have a high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship is awarded in amounts up to $6,000 per year. A recipient must commit to working for the Texas DOT for at least two years after graduating. The annual deadline for application is March 1.
