The National Institutes of Health offers reeducation grants through the Research Supplements to Promote Re-Entry into Biomedical and Behavioral Research Careers program. The program's goal is to "support individuals with high potential to re-enter an active research career after a qualifying interruption for family or other responsibilities," according to grant guidelines. Preference is given to applicants who have interrupted their education or career to care for family. Grants provide salary requirements and up to $10,000 to be used for training, supplies and related costs. Public and private higher education institutions, tribally controlled colleges, historically black colleges and universities and Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian-serving institutions are eligible to apply.
The EWI corporation offers the Adult Students in Transition Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to "non-traditional students already enrolled in a college/university or trade program who are re-training due to changes in the workplace," according to the EWI website. Application is made through the nearest EWI chapter, which are located in 27 states and the District of Columbia. Scholarships range up $2,500. Funds can be used for tuition, books, fees and child care. To qualify, applicants must utilize re-entry programs through colleges, universities, community groups or other service organizations.
The Datatel Scholars Foundation offers funds for reeducation through the Russ Griffith Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to "outstanding students currently attending an eligible Datatel client institution who have returned to school after an absence of five years or longer," according to the foundation's website. Datatel institutions are located in most states, several Canadian provinces and American Samoa, Bermuda, Guam and Puerto Rico. Full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students with at least a 3.5 grade point average are eligible to apply. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,400, depending on the recipient's college tuition costs.
The Talbots Charitable Foundation offers annual reeducation grants through the Talbots Women's Scholarships Fund. Each year, the foundation selects 10 women to receive $15,000 scholarships. One $30,000 Nancy Talbot Scholarship Award is presented to an "extraordinary finalist demonstrating courage, conviction and an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit," according to the foundation's website. To qualify, applicants must have received their high school diploma or GED more than 10 years ago. Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited two- or four-year college, university or a vocational or technical school, have at least two semesters left, and be a U.S. or Canada resident.
