The grant is available for undergraduates enrolled either part-time or full-time. You need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, to be considered for the FSEOG.
Each year the federal government allocates a certain amount for each school. The school then determines criteria and award amounts. Federal guidelines mandate that grants range from $100 to $4000.
Because the FSEOG constitutes grant-aid that you do not have to repay--similar to the Pell Grant--you can obtain it without any change or loss of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) eligibility as long as you use it for educational expenses.
