The Samuel Robinson Award is one of several scholarships offered by the Presbyterian Church. Applicants must be preparing to enter their junior or senior year at one of the 69 colleges affiliated with the church. The student also must plan full-time attendance, be a Presbyterian and able to recite the answers to the Westminster Shorter Catechism if selected for a scholarship interview. A 2,000-word essay on a provided Catechism-related topic is also required. The program offers 12 scholarships ranging from $200 to $5,000 each year.

The Juliette M. Atherton Scholarship is a possible opportunity for Protestants living in Hawaii. The student must plan to attend an accredited graduation school of theology and plan to become a minister with a recognized Christian denomination. Applicants also must have at least a 2.7 GPA, write an essay, demonstrate financial need and provide references attesting to their character, extracurricular activities and depth of commitment to becoming an ordained Protestant minister. Students who attend school outside Hawaii must have a permanent Hawaii address or relatives living in that state. The number and amount of scholarships awarded vary each year, but typically 14 students receive grants.

The Shannon Scholarship is open only to daughters of Episcopalian clergy members in the state of Pennsylvania. Awarded grants are renewable, but the sponsor--Trinity Episcopal Church--expects all applicants to also pursue state and federal financial aid. Nine awards ranging from $500 to $7,500 are offered each year. Trinity Episcopal Church does not have a website, but the CollegeBoard 2010 Scholarship Handbook notes that eligible women may write or call the church office for application details.

United Methodist Scholarships are available to current college students who are members of a Methodist church. Awards may be used for two-year, four-year or graduate school programs, but applicants must have completed at least two years of college study and plan full-time attendance. The denomination offers more than 60 scholarships each year but only to selected applicants who have been active members of a Methodist church for at least a year. Award recipients also must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA; transcripts are required for the scholarship application process. The amount of each awarded scholarships varies, and some awards are renewable.
