Christian Scholarships

It's getting to that time of year when high school students are filling out scholarship applications and trying to figure out how they are going to finance their college educations. There are a number of Christian scholarships that are open to high school and college students. Just like with most scholarships, Christian scholarships vary in requirements and the amount awarded to each recipient.
  1. First Presbyterian Church Scholarship

    • The First Presbyterian Church Scholarship is a $1,000 award that is given out by the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, Oklahoma. On average the scholarship is received by 25 applicants. The scholarship is geared toward the recipients' educational costs, such as tuition, room and board and textbook costs. Each candidate must be a member of a Presbyterian Church in the United States and plan on attending a School of Christan Education or a seminary school. The scholarship is renewable, but recipients must reapply each year for the renewal. The deadline for the First Presbyterian Church Scholarship for the 2010 and 2011 academic session is April 15, 2010.

    Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Art

    • Recipients of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts Scholarship get a renewable $1,000 scholarship that on average is given to just three applicants each year. The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts Scholarship is geared toward the recipients' educational costs, such as tuition, room and board, supplies and textbook costs. Among the requirements is a concentration in ministries, music and religious studies with areas of study in music and worship. The applicant must also be a United Methodist Church member and pursue an active Christian life. The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts Scholarship is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. The candidate may be enrolled at any accredited four-year university. The application deadline for the 2010 and 2011 academic session is March 1, 2010.

    Faith and Education Scholarship

    • The Faith and Education Scholarship is a one-year, $5,000 scholarship that is granted by the Faith and Education department of Abilene Christian University. The scholarship is geared toward the recipients' educational costs, such as tuition, room and board and the purchase of textbooks. To qualify, an applicant must be an undergraduate at an accredited four-year liberal arts college. A candidate for the Faith and Education Scholarship must also be an active member of the Church of Christ. This scholarship is nonrenewable, but applicants and recipients may apply each year during their undergraduate education. The application may be downloaded online. The deadline date for the Faith and Education Scholarship for the 2010 and 2011 academic session is March 31, 2010.
