The Linguistics Department Alumni Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time doctoral candidates in the amount of $500. The Cathy Miller Horiuchi Scholarship will pay for one semester of graduate study for up to $2,250. The Wick R. Miller Endowed Scholarship is available in the amount of $1,000 to full-time Ph.D. candidates, with preference given to a candidate that is of Native American ethnicity. The Department of Linguistics at the University of New Mexico makes several scholarships available to its doctoral students. The Steven Menefee Graduate Fund for Indigenous Language Revitalization is available to a master's or doctoral candidate in linguistics who is dedicated to the preservation of indigenous languages that are at risk for extinction. The Joseph H. Greenberg Endowed Research Fellowship will pay the tuition costs for a Ph.D. candidate to take between six and nine credit hours each semester for up to two years. It provides health insurance and a cost-of-living stipend. The Robert Young Endowed Scholarship is available to University of New Mexico students studying the linguistics of Native American languages.
