The total number of scholarships for each country varies enormously. Informally known simply as the University of Athens, the institution was formed in 1837, just eight years after Greece achieved independence. The French language and literature course is covered by the Greek government scholarship. Students can earn a post graduate diploma. The studies are in both Greek and French. All course costs are covered by the scholarship and there is a monthly allowance of 500 euros and a onetime Athens settlement allowance of 500 euros.

Known as Aristotelian University, it is the biggest university in Greece. Established in 1925, it is an international university with connections to a number of other universities in Europe. The university is in Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece. Students can study for a civil engineering doctorate at the university. The civil-engineering department is connected to the University of London. All course costs and a settlement allowance of 550 euros are covered by the scholarship. There is also a monthly allowance of 500 euros.

Macedonia University, also in Thessaloniki, specializes in the social, economic and political sciences. Students can study for an economic science degree at the university. The course includes administration services, logistical management, finance management and enterprise administration. The settlement allowance is 500 euros because the university is located outside of Athens. The scholarship covers a monthly stipend of 500 euros and a onetime settlement expense allowance of 150 euros.

The University of Crete is located in the two cities of Heraklio and Rethymno on the Greek island of Crete. A relatively small university, it has only five faculties and 17 departments. History and archeology courses are offered at the university. The course concerns the history of the Balkans and the archeology of the Byzantine empire. The course fees are covered and there is a 500 euro monthly allowance for expenses. There is also a onetime allowance of 700 euros which covers transport to the university and settlement.
