The Mildred Nutting Scholarship is awarded by the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) Society, which has traditionally supporting nursing students with three different scholarships. The Nutting Nursing Scholarship is the only merit-based scholarship of the three and is open to current nursing students and to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted into a nursing program. It is a $1,000 award that is not renewable. The award is open to all American students, but preference is given to students from the Lowell, Massachusetts area.
To apply, you must submit a sponsorship letter from your local chapter of DAR (dar.org/natsociety/chapters.cfm). Your local chapter may have other requirements as well. To request an application, mail a self-addressed, stamped business-sized envelope to:

The Hurst Review, which publishes study guides to help registered nurses pass the national career entry exam, and the AACN, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, operate a joint scholarship program for nursing students in prelicensure courses of study. Nurses enroledl in college ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) programs are eligible for the Army ROTC Nursing Scholarship, which is renewable for up to four years. All ROTC scholarships are merit-based; financial need does affect eligibility. There are a number of scholarships available, including living-expenses stipends that can reach $500 per month, room and board scholarships and book expenses awards.
