The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sponsors the Nursing Scholarship Program for students who are enrolled in an accredited U.S. graduate nursing degree program or an advanced training program. Both full- and part-time students may apply, but priority is given to those students with a full-time status. If you're selected, you will receive a scholarship that pays full tuition and fees as well as a monthly stipend of approximately $1,200. In return, you must agree to a minimum two-year period of service in an underserved health care facility after graduation.

The March of Dimes sponsors a graduate scholarship for nursing students who are enrolled in degree programs related to maternal-child nursing. To apply, you must be a registered nurse enrolled in a maternal-child nursing program at the masters or doctoral level. You should also have at least one year left to complete in your program and belong to a professional nursing association, such as the Association of Women's Health. The $5,000 scholarship awards are nonrenewable.

The American Nephrology Nurses Association administers several graduate nursing scholarship programs, including the Career Mobility Scholarship award. The scholarship is available to students who are enrolled in a graduate level nephrology nursing program and have been members of ANNA for at least two years prior to applying. To be eligible for the award, you should be able to demonstrate academic achievement and plans to pursue a career in nephrology nursing. The Foundation for Neonatal Research and Education sponsors a scholarship award for students who are pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing degree, a doctoral degree in nursing or a post-Masters degree in nursing administration. The program gives priority to those students whose career goals include working in neonatal nursing. To apply, you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be an active member in a professional nursing association related to neonatal nursing and participate in research or service activities relating to neonatal nursing and education. The number and amount of awards granted varies based on foundation funding.
