Grants For Blindness

There are many scholarships available for blind students. Thanks to the generosity of public and private institutions, including charities, nonprofit organizations, corporations and schools, finding a way to fund your education has never been easier. There are scholarships for specific areas of study, merit-based awards for the academically successful and need-based grants for the financially burdened. It's really just a matter of finding the best grant to suit you and qualifying for it.
  1. National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program

    • Each year, 30 students are awarded scholarships through the National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program. To qualify, you must be legally blind in both eyes, a citizen of the United States, pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university and attending and participating in the National Federation of the Blind Annual Convention. The award amount is between $3,000 and $12,000 per academic year.

    The Delta Gamma Foundation Florence Margaret Harvey Memorial Scholarship

    • The Delta Gamma Foundation Florence Margaret Harvey Memorial Scholarship is offered to a deserving student by the American Foundation for the Blind. To qualify, you must provide proof of legal blindness, write an essay detailing your accomplishments and future educational and career goals, be a U.S. citizen and provide proof that you have been accepted into an accredited college or university. The award amount is $1,000.

    The Rudolph Dillman Memorial Scholarship

    • The Rudolph Dillman Memorial Scholarship is offered to an outstanding student by the American Foundation for the Blind. To qualify, you must be pursuing a career in the treatment and rehabilitation of the blind, demonstrate proof of your own blindness, be a U.S. citizen and be pursuing a degree at an accredited U.S. college or university. The award amount is $2,500.

    Association of Blind Citizens Scholarship Program

    • The Association of Blind Citizens Scholarship Program is offered to a deserving blind student. To qualify, you must submit your high school of college transcript, provide a certificate of legal blindness, two letters of recommendation and an essay detailing your accomplishments and future educational and career goals. The award amount is between $1,000 and $2,000 per academic year.
