Grants for Single Mothers in Nebraska

There are many scholarships available to single mothers in Nebraska. Thanks to the generosity of charities, corporations, nonprofit organizations, public and private institutions and schools, finding education grants is now easier than ever. There are awards for particular areas of study or life situations of affiliations, merit-based grants for the academically accomplished and need-based scholarships for those that demonstrate both financial need and academic excellence.

    • The Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship is offered to a female, non-traditional student. Applicants must be 35 or older; a U.S. citizen; be enrolled in a degree-seeking associate's, bachelor's or master's program; and meet financial guidelines. Students also have to write an essay on any trials or hardships they have faced as an older woman returning to school. The award amount ranges between $1,000 and $3,000.

    Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Scholarship

    • The Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Scholarship is offered to a deserving female student. Applicants must have at least one dependent, minor child; must have thoughtful and realistic career and educational goals; and must demonstrate financial need. Students must be pursuing their first associate's, bachelor's or master's degree. The award amount is $1,000 per academic semester with a maximum of $2,000 a year.

    Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Women

    • The Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Women is awarded to older, non-traditional students. To qualify, you must be over 25, attend an accredited college or university full-time and must have at least 60 credits of your bachelor's degree completed.
