Graduate School Grants for Single Mothers

Most single mothers are already on a tight budget and may run into financial trouble if they pursue a graduate degree. However, a number of publicly and privately funded grants either specifically target, or are commonly awarded to, single mothers. Most can be applied to any type of higher education, including graduate school. Several good options for single mothers are described below.
  1. Raise The Nation

    • Raise The Nation provides grants to single mothers for pursuing postsecondary education. To be eligible for its Scholarship for Continuing Education, you must be a single-parent woman, be accepted or currently enrolled in a postsecondary course, and fall below the median income for a four-person family in your state. Grant cycles for this scholarship are held in the spring and fall. An application fee is charged, and grant amounts vary.
