The Fund for Veterans' Education provides scholarship assistance in varying amounts to students who have prior military experience. To be eligible, a veteran must have served a minimum of 60 days in Afghanistan, Iraq or surrounding areas, or have enlisted but not served 60 days because of an injury incurred in the line of duty. In addition, a student must be currently enrolled in school. Both part-time and full-time students are eligible. The Fund For Veterans' Education will fund study at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Eligible students do not need to be citizens of the United States as long as they fulfill all other eligibility requirements. The organization AMVETS provides scholarships to students with prior military service through the AMVETS National Scholarship Program. AMVETS National Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $4,000 over four years. To be eligible, a student must be a United States citizen, a veteran, must be able to demonstrate financial need, and must be attending school on a full-time basis. AMVETS National Scholarships may be used for study at either the undergraduate or graduate level, or for the pursuit of a trade or technical degree. Interested students should visit the AMVETS website to download an application. The annual deadline for applications is April 15.

The AFCEA Educational Foundation makes scholarship money available to students with prior military experience through its Disabled Veteran Scholarship. The AFCEA Educational Foundation Disabled Veteran Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,500. To be eligible, a veteran must have been injured in either Afghanistan in Iraq, and must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at an institution of higher learning within the United States. A student must also be majoring in an area of study related to physics, mathematics, or engineering. Interested students should visit the AFCEA Educational Foundation for more information. The annual application deadlines fall on April 1 and November 1.
