Scholarships for Catholic College Students

Scholarships are the ideal way to finance your way through college. If you qualify for enough, you can leave college with relatively little debt. Many religious groups offer scholarships to their members. If you are Catholic, there are several scholarships available that you may qualify for.
  1. Catholic Aid Association College Tuition Scholarship

    • The Catholic Aid Association awards as many $500 scholarships that they can. You must have been a member for two years or more, be entering your first or second year of college and be attending a Catholic college or university. However, it is possible to receive a $300 award if you do not attend a Catholic school.

    Father Krewitt Scholarship

    • The Catholic Kolping Society of America offers the Father Krewitt Scholarship of $1,000 to one student each year. To eligible, you must be a member or a child of a member, provide proof of enrollment in school and write an essay between 500 to 1,000 words based on a different theme each year.

    Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree) Scholarships

    • The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal society that offers two scholarships for freshmen: the Fourth Degree Pro Deo and Pro Patria Scholarship and the John W. McDevitt Scholarship. To be eligible, you must be attending a Catholic college or university in the America. For the McDevitt Scholarship, you must be a U.S. citizen and a member or the wife, widow or child of a member. For the Fourth Degree Scholarship, you don't have to be a U.S. Citizen, but only members and the children of members are eligible, not wives. Scholarships are renewable each year based on academic merit. They award 98 $1,500 scholarships per year between the two funds.

    ICF College Scholarships to High School Seniors

    • The Italian Catholic Federation awards 200 college scholarships of $400 to freshman college students each year. First-year winners may apply for scholarships in the second, third and fourth year of college, with the amount increasing each year. To be eligible, you must be a Catholic of Italian heritage or the child of a non-Italian member of ICF. Only students from California, Arizona, Nevada and Illinois are eligible as well.

    Knights of Lithuania National Scholarships

    • The Knighs of Lithiuania is a society of Roman Catholics of Lithuanian descent. They award individuals scholarships of various amounts depending upon what the scholarship committee decides for each individual. You must be of Lithuanian descent and be a member with a proven record of service to the organization. You must also provide a photo and recommendations from your pastor, local council president, a teacher and a character reference. You may apply more than once for this scholarship.
