Regionally Accredited Nursing Schools in Colorado

As of June 2010, Colorado has 37 nursing programs---26 at community and junior colleges that confer associates degrees and 11 at four-year universities that confer bachelors degrees. Since schools have varying statuses of state approval and accreditation, potential nurses must verify the standing of their schools of interest with the Colorado Board of Nursing.
  1. Aims Community College

    • Aims Community College offers an associate's of applied science degree (AAS) for both practical and registered nursing. After completing the prerequisites, taking the Test for Essential Academic Skills entrance exam and submitting immunization records, students enter the two year program. Once students complete the first two semesters and a transition course, they have the option to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam-Practical Nurse to obtain practical nursing certification. This option allows continuing students to work as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) during the remainder of the program, which helps offset tuition costs and gives students hands-on patient care experience. Students matriculate only in the fall.
