There are many different programs available to students wishing to pursue a career in nursing at all academic levels and specialisms. There are a huge number of nursing schools in Indiana that are accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing. This information is important for prospective nursing students to consider before submitting their college applications.
  1. Indiana University School of Nursing

    • Registered nurses may take the RN to BSN degree program.

      Indiana University School of Nursing is the largest accredited school of its kind in the United States and an internationally provider of nursing programs. Undergraduate programs include the Bachelor of Science in nursing degree (BSN) and the BSN program for registered nurses (RN to BSN).

      There is also a wide range of graduate programs available, including the PhD and postdoctoral options. In the 2009 "U.S. News & World Report" rankings, the graduate programs were ranked 15th out of several hundred graduate nursing programs in the nation.

    University of Indianapolis School of Nursing

    • MSN students may specialize in midwifery nursing.

      The University of Indianapolis School of Nursing offers the Associate's of Science in nursing (ASN) and the Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN), both of which are accredited by the the Indiana State Board of Nursing. The ASN is suitable for students who wish to administer direct nursing care to patients of all ages.

      Following the ASN program, students may go on to study the BSN program. If students wish to continue with their nursing education after the BSN, there is the option of the Masters of Science in nursing program (MSN). MSN students may specialize in different areas, including midwifery, education, women's health and family nursing.

    Brown Mackie College

    • Brown Mackie students benefit from practical experience in health-care settings.

      Brown Mackie College is accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing for its programs in nursing, including the practical nursing certificate and the practical nursing diploma.

      There are four campuses in Indiana for nursing students: Fort Wayne, South Bend, Merrillville and Indianapolis. A combination of classroom-based teaching and practical work experience in areas such as obstetrics, geriatrics, pharmacology and pediatrics, the practical nursing program equips students with the knowledge and skills required to go on and pursue the LPN state board licensure.
