The state of Texas has approved the Academy of Health Care Professions to train students to become nurses. It has several nursing focuses depending on the field chosen. The Academy of Health Care Professions also has several state and national accreditation for specific focuses. This college was founded in 1988 by doctors at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Its campuses are in Houston Southwest, Houston Northwest, Austin and San Antonio.
Nursing programs at Orvis School of Nursing in Reno are approved by the state of Nevada. Students may earn a bachelor of science nursing degree to become qualified for a job in public health, schools, hospitals and clinics. This school also has a registered nurses program and a program to earn a doctor of nursing practices. Orvis students may earn a master of science degree in nursing in combination with a master in public health.
Barton County Community College, which is approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing, offers a practical nurse program and a registered nurse program in Great Bend. In the practical nurse program, students may earn a certificate with 40 credit hours. Registered Nurse students work toward an associate of applied science degree. Both programs provide the student with enough skill to start his career. Barton students are educated to care for people from pre-birth to death.
The Bluegrass Community and Technical College Practical Nursing program is approved by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing. The classroom portion of the program provides instruction and hands-on skill labs. Students will also participate in supervised instruction at a local health care clinic, hospital or other health facility. Successful completion allows students to take the National Council Licensure Exam, which qualifies her to become a practical nurse.
