Nationally Accredited Nursing Schools in Wisconsin

Throughout the United States, nurses are in high demand. The Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook shows the demand for nurses will grow 22 percent from 2008 to 2018.

Nursing requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is a national accreditation listed with the U.S. Secretary of Education that covers all 50 states, including Wisconsin.
  1. Cardinal Stritch University

    • The Ruth S. Coleman College of Nursing is part of Cardinal Stritch University (CSU) and is accredited by CCNE. CSU takes a hands-on approach to teaching its nursing students, giving students clinical experience in top Milwaukee hospitals.

      Approximately 97 percent of CSU nursing students find a job within six months. Tuition for nursing in 2009-2010 was $10,640 for a full-time student plus an additional $80 per nursing credit.

    University of Wisconsin, Green Bay

    • Another university accredited by CCNE is the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay (UWGB). UWGB offers the chance for students to complete their nursing degree completely online, completely on campus or a mix of both. All students have a personal nursing advisor to assist them on their journey through UWGB.

      In 2009, UWGB tuition for in-state students was $3,306. Tuition for out-of-state students was $7,093. For Minnesota students with reciprocity tuition was $3,492. Students from the Midwest Exchange pay $4,674. Returning Wisconsin students pay $5,476.

    Marian University

    • Marian University, located in Fond Du Loc, has been educating nurses for 40 years and is accredited by CCNE. Marian requires students start clinical training in the sophomore year. Marian students can train at over 17 local hospitals and clinics, including the University of Wisconsin hospitals.

      Tuition at Marian University was $20,550 a year in 2009-2010.
