Widener University, situated in the city of Chester and south of Philadelphia, has a respected nursing school that offers a Bachelor of Science and a master's degree in nursing. The master's degrees include specialization as a family nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist. Another academic feature is a Ph.D., which prepares students to teach and become scholars. Although most of the students attend the school full time and live on campus, part-time programs are also available. In addition to a wide range of other majors, Widener has 80 clubs and a strong program in men's and women's sports.
Students at Aurora University's School of Nursing can earn four-year Bachelor of Nursing degrees. They can also enter the school of nursing as a registered nurse with an associate degree and earn a bachelor's degree with two more years of study. Nursing scholarships are available to the school through a grant-funded education program. Aurora University actually has two campuses. One is on a 32-acre campus located approximately 40 miles west of Chicago. Its 133-acre George Williams College campus is 70 miles to the north, in Wisconsin. The university offers a full campus life with over 60 musical, literary, religious, social and service organizations. Its athletic teams compete in 18 sports on the NCAA Division III level.
The School of Nursing at Azusa Pacific University has a four-year program that offers full-time students a chance to earn a bachelor's degree. Part-time students are also accepted at a school that provides training in pharmacology, nutrition, biochemistry, microbiology and human anatomy. In addition to undergraduate studies, Azusa offers Master of Science in Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing degrees along with a nurse practitioner program. Azusa, located in Southern California, has a total of 80 different bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. Founded in 1899, and a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, Azusa's 105-acre campus includes three libraries, a student center, an event center and a gymnasium. Over 9,000 students attend Azusa.
The University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois, has a school of nursing with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Students in the undergraduate program earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The graduate program offers a teaching in nursing certificate along with a master's degree in nursing. Founded in 1920, the University of St. Francis has a 24-acre campus and over 3,000 students. It is a private school that is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The faculty consists of nearly 100 full-time teachers, and there is one teacher for every 12 students. The university also has a Health and Wellness Center that is open to the public and managed by advanced practice nurses on the faculty.
