Midwife Nursing Schools

Certified nurse-midwives are registered nurses with additional training in women's health care and midwifery. In many states, nurse-midwives must become certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board in order to legally practice midwifery in that state. To become a certified nurse-midwife, nurses must have at least a master's degree but some have doctoral degrees. They must complete a course of education at a program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. They must also pass the exam offered by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
