Colorado Nursing Schools

As the job market for nurses continues to grow and as the number of applicants entering the field continues to increase, where you obtain your degree becomes increasingly important when competing with other nursing candidates for top positions. Colorado is home to several prominent nursing programs. The last year the "U.S. New & World Report" ranked nursing schools was 2007. According to this ranking, three of the top 150 programs were located in the state of Colorado.
  1. University of Colorado Denver

    • The University of Colorado in Denver (UCD) is the state of Colorado's top nursing program, according to the "U.S. News & World Report," which also ranked UCD No. 15 in the nation. Founded in 1898, the UCD program offers a wide array of degree programs. Degrees offered by the university's nursing program include the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), an online program for registered nurses to complete their BSN and an accelerated program for registered nurses to obtain both the BSN and the Master of Science in Nursing degree. The master's degree program has a number of concentrations: nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, and family and pediatric nurse practitioner. Doctoral degrees offered at the university are the Doctor of Nursing Practice and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing. The college of nursing houses two different research centers, the Center for Nursing Research and the Colorado Clinical and Translations Sciences Institute.
