The University of Texas Health Center was founded in 1970. It graduates more than 90 dentists a year with a faculty of 200 dental professionals in more than 10 study areas. The areas of study include doctor of dental surgery, general dentistry, dental diagnostic sciences, dental public health, endodontics, general practice residency, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and prosthodontics.

The Dallas area also offers two- to three-year dental hygienist programs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for dental assistants is expected to grow more than 29 percent through 2016.
