Students of Augusta Technical College may enroll in the Dental Assisting Diploma Program. The program teaches students the fundamentals of dental assisting, including anatomy, technical skills, and office procedures. Students will gain hands-on experience working in a dental office through three separate practicum experiences. The program takes five semesters to complete. Upon completion, students will have certification from the State of Georgia in expanded functions and will be eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board Exam.

Medical College of Georgia offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor's or master's degree in dental hygiene. The School of Allied Health offers two bachelor's programs developed for different levels of students. There is an entry-level program as well as a bachelor's program for those who already hold an associate degree in dental hygiene. The bachelor's programs require students to complete 60 hours of core curriculum at another college or university. Once the core curriculum is completed, students will complete the two-year dental hygiene portion of the program at the Medical College of Georgia. Graduates of the programs are ready to take on advanced careers in the dental field, including clinical practice and beyond.

Medical College of Georgia's School of Dentistry is the only dental school in Georgia and one of 56 schools in the United States. Graduate students can complete the four-year program to obtain a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. For students wishing to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), dual degree programs are available with the Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology Department. The School of Dentistry curriculum includes oral biology courses, clinical sciences and behavioral sciences. The program also emphasizes patient care with students beginning to treat patients as early as their sophomore year. For students looking to specialize their degree, the Medical College of Georgia offers several advanced education programs. The advanced education opportunities include orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for examination from any of the U.S. dental licensing boards.
